How we verify tutors
Every tutor completes the same checks before their profile goes live. Each profile shows what was checked and when, so you can see the evidence rather than take our word for it.
The checks
Identity
A government-issued ID is checked against the applicant, so you know who is teaching.
Qualifications
Certificates and degrees are checked against the documents supplied, and marked on the profile.
Subject knowledge
A subject assessment at the level the tutor wants to teach, per subject.
Teaching interview
A live conversation, often with a short demonstration, to see how they explain and check understanding.
Safeguarding and references
Safeguarding checks and references before anyone can teach learners under 18.
Ongoing standards
Lesson reports, attendance and family feedback are monitored after approval, and concerns are investigated.
What the badge means
The badge appears only when every required check has passed. It is not a promise of results, so read the tutor’s profile, approach and reviews too.

- All required checks passed. The tutor can accept bookings.
- Checks in progress
- The tutor has applied and some checks are still being reviewed. They can’t accept bookings yet.
- Not verified
- Not shown to families. Profiles without completed checks don’t appear in search.
