Keeping learners safe

Before a tutor can teach

• Identity, qualification and subject checks, and a teaching interview.
• Safeguarding checks and references before teaching anyone under 18.
• Agreement to our code of conduct, including professional communication with learners and families.

How the platform protects learners

• Parents and guardians manage younger learners’ accounts and can see their lessons, reports and messages.
• Tutors see only the learners they are assigned to teach, and never a minor’s personal contact details.
• Lessons happen through Konetuto’s lesson links, so there’s a record of who attended and when.
• Messaging, payments and scheduling stay on Konetuto. Tutors must not move contact with learners off the platform.
• Administrative actions involving learner data are recorded in audit logs.

If something doesn’t feel right

Anyone can report a concern about a tutor, a learner’s safety or a message, using Report a concern on the lesson or message, or through our contact form. Reports go to a trained member of our team and are treated as urgent. We may suspend an account while we look into a report.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

Guidance for families

• Help younger learners set up in a shared space in your home, and check in during the first lessons.
• Read lesson reports and ask your child how lessons are going.
• Tell us straight away if a tutor asks to communicate or be paid outside Konetuto.
