Tutor agreement

What you agree to when you teach on Konetuto, alongside our terms of use.

Last updated 11 October 2026. Questions about this page? Contact us. All our policies are listed on the Legal page.

1. Our relationship

You teach on Konetuto as an independent professional, not as an employee, worker or agent of Konetuto. You decide when you’re available, what you teach and, within this agreement, what you charge. You’re responsible for your own taxes and any registrations your work needs.

This agreement adds to our terms of use, community guidelines and safeguarding rules, which also apply to you.

2. Verification

  • You must be at least 18 and give your real name, date of birth and accurate details.
  • Before your profile goes live, you upload at least one certificate (a degree, NCE, TRCN or similar) and complete our checks. You can add more certificates and tag each one. You can edit or replace a certificate until our team approves it. After that it’s locked, so families can trust what they see.
  • Changes to your profile after you’re verified may be checked again before families see them. New certificates are checked before they show as “Document checked”.
  • You must upload a professional, studio-style profile photo of yourself: face and shoulders clearly visible, a plain background, good lighting, no filters, logos or other people. Our team checks it before approving you. You can replace it later (a new photo is checked again) but you can’t remove it.
  • Uploading a false or altered document ends your account and may be reported to the authorities.

Read how verification works.

3. Your prices, packs and offers

  • You set a price per lesson for each ad, and can offer packs of 5 or 10 lessons at up to 50% off, and a free first lesson.
  • If Konetuto has bargaining switched on, you can mark an ad’s price as negotiable. Parents, students and undergraduates can then offer a lower price. You can accept, decline or reply with your own price, and set a lowest offer that families never see. An agreed price applies to that family’s single lessons from the ad until you end it. Lessons already booked keep their price.
  • The price on a booking is fixed when it’s made. Changing your rates only affects new bookings.

4. The platform fee

For each paid lesson, Konetuto keeps a platform fee of 0% of the lesson price, and you receive the rest. The fee covers finding families, taking payments, the lesson tools, Tutor-Ai, support and safeguarding. Free first lessons earn nothing and cost you nothing.

The fee on each lesson is fixed when the lesson is paid for. If we change the standard fee, we’ll tell you in advance, and the change applies only to payments made after it takes effect.

5. Getting paid

  • Your earnings from a lesson become available once the lesson is completed, when you submit its lesson report.
  • We pay to the bank account you add in Earnings, in the currency of your ads. Make sure the account is in your own name.
  • Naira payouts are sent through Paystack or Bachs. When we use Bachs, it opens a payout account in your name using your name and bank details, so it can pay into your own bank. Konetuto pays the transfer fee, so you receive your full earnings.
  • Payouts run on the schedule shown in your Earnings page. There may be a minimum amount before a payout is made.
  • If a lesson is refunded, for example because you missed it, the earning for that lesson is removed, or deducted from a later payout if it was already paid.
  • You can download a statement for any month from Earnings.

6. Teaching on Konetuto

  • Keep your availability up to date and accept or decline lesson requests promptly.
  • Be on time, teach the full lesson, and use the lesson link on Konetuto.
  • Record attendance and write a lesson report after every lesson, so families can follow progress.
  • If you can’t make a lesson, cancel or move it as early as you can. Families are always refunded when a tutor cancels. Missing lessons without notice leads to warnings. After repeated no-shows, your profile is hidden from search while we review it.

7. Keeping lessons and payments on Konetuto

You must not ask families you meet on Konetuto to pay you directly, or share contact details to take lessons off the platform. Off-platform arrangements remove the protections that keep learners safe and families’ money secure. They lead to your account being suspended or closed, and to unpaid platform fees being recovered.

8. Safeguarding

Many learners are children. You must follow our safeguarding rules. Keep all contact on Konetuto, never meet a minor in person unless their parent has agreed it on Konetuto, and don’t record lessons unless everyone has been told and, for minors, a parent or guardian agrees. Report any concern about a learner’s safety to us straight away.

9. Your materials

You keep ownership of the materials you create. You give Konetuto permission to store and show them to the learners you teach and to run the service. Only upload material you have the right to share.

10. Suspension and ending this agreement

You can stop teaching and close your account at any time, after finishing or cancelling lessons already booked. We may hold your profile, suspend or close your account if you break this agreement, put a learner at risk, or receive serious complaints. We’ll tell you why, unless the law or a safety investigation stops us. Earnings for lessons you delivered properly are still paid, less any refunds or amounts you owe.

11. Changes

We’ll tell you by email at least 14 days before important changes to this agreement take effect. If you continue to teach after that, the new version applies. Questions? Contact us.
