About Ebisi
I am a Law graduate with six years of teaching experience. My journey into teaching began prior to my university days and blossomed fully at the university. As a result, I have prepared children for various national exams, organised lessons for university students and gained more experience in formal classroom teaching. One thing my experience has taught me is that students do not all learn in the same way. Some understand better through illustrations, others through discussions, practical examples or stories. I see teaching as the process of discovering how each student learns and finding the best way to help them understand. Interestingly, I have a particular fondness for subjects students consider boring or difficult. I enjoy finding ways to make them interesting. Government, for instance, does not have to be a collection of definitions to memorise; it can be explored through everyday political events and decisions that affect our lives. History is not merely about dates and past events; it is about people, experiences and stories. Literature becomes more engaging when students learn to connect with the characters, ideas and experiences within a text. My lessons are built around curiosity, participation and practical examples. I want students to understand what they learn, enjoy the process and become confident enough to think independently.
I believe students learn best when they understand what they are being taught, not when they simply memorise information. My lessons break difficult topics into simple, relatable explanations. I begin by finding out each student's strengths and the areas where they need more support, then I map out what we should cover next. This approach applies across English Language, Literature in English, Government, History and Constitutional Law. I work with JSS and SSS students, GCSE (Years 10–11), A-Level, US Middle School (Grades 6–8), Canada High School (Grades 9–12), university students and adult learners.
6 years teaching. Curricula: WAEC, NECO, JAMB, NABTEB, Post-UTME, JUPEB, A-Level, IELTS, TOEFL, Duolingo English Test.
